Hello all and welcome to the Dems' blog!

My name is Jon and I'm the Communications Director for the Tufts Democrats, and I will be updating this blog to discuss Dems events, meetings, and to write out my thoughts on issues relating to the Tufts Dems, the Democratic Party, and Democracy (of course).

Our weekly meetings occur every Tuesday at 9pm in Eaton 201.  During the meetings, we do a variety of different things.  At meetings, we often get speakers and visitors, plan events, or just have discussions on the political-goings on of the week.

In the past we have helped out with various campaigns, whether it be canvassing for Obama in New Hampshire or Tufts Alum Joe Courtney in Connecticut.  Also, we have Dems social events, such as Dems bowling in Davis Square, or our upcoming trip to the Loj in New Hampshire.  We just had one of our major events of the year this past weekend, the Issues of the Future Symposium, which this year focused on education reform, with a keynote speech from Deborah Meier, a pioneer in education reform and a major advocate of the small school movement.  The symposium was a great success, and I plan to write the next blog post about how it went, and the overall topic of education reform.

That's about all for now.  If you are interested in getting involved with the Dems, stop by Eaton 206 this coming Tuesday at  9pm for our regular weekly meeting, or shoot me an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it !
